Blizzard anyone? Check out these snowfall totals in New Mexico and Colorado! : The Alabama Weather Blog

Last week, a powerful winter storm hit parts of New Mexico, Colorado and western Oklahoma. In some areas more than 90 cm of snow fell, and in some reports even more than 100 cm! Blizzard warnings were in effect for some areas as strong winds led to whiteout conditions and blowing snow.

In the graphic above you can even see the snow cover on the satellite! All the white coloring on the map is the snowfall left over from that storm. Due to heavy snowfall, many roads remain closed this morning. So if you have travel plans to these areas, keep this in mind.

The same storm system also brought severe weather to parts of North Texas and Southern Oklahoma yesterday, with severe thunderstorm warnings and at least one tornado warning. Fortunately, damage appears to be very minimal as no storm reports were submitted to the Storm Prediction Center.
