Jill Biden’s apparent cold shoulder toward Kamala Harris is causing a stir on social media

Jill Biden’s apparent cold shoulder toward Kamala Harris is causing a stir on social media

After the icy reception of Vice President Kamala Harris, whom many referred to as First Lady Jill Biden, social media erupted as the now-former Democratic presidential candidate took an adjacent spot at Arlington Cemetery on Tuesday.

Harris and second gentleman Douglas Emhoff approached their row of seats from the first lady’s right side, while the vice president greeted and shook hands with everyone around them – except for Biden.

“It’s safe to say Jill Biden hates Kamala Harris’s guts,” conservative commentator Steve Cortes said while sharing a video clip of the non-interaction.

As Harris took her seat, Biden appeared to look straight ahead through dark sunglasses.

“Jill Biden refused to even look at Kamala,” the popular X account “End Wokeness” claimed.

Journalist Andy Ngo shared a close-up of the second family and the first lady and described Biden as “stone-faced.”[d]” and commented that Harris supporters had partly blamed President Biden for their candidate’s defeat last Tuesday.

The interaction, or lack thereof, also attracted international media attention when Italian television journalist Leonardo Panetta wrote on X in Italian that Harris had been “ignored” by Biden following her defeat.

“Jill Biden … did not stand to greet her and then remained seated next to the vice president in sunglasses without deigning to look at her,” Panetta said. “Good climate in America.”

“They don’t take the defeat well,” remarked right-wing commentator Benny Arthur Johnson.

“Watch Jill Biden apparently give Kamala the cold shoulder as she arrives at Arlington National Cemetery. Kamala shook everyone’s hand before quickly racing past Jill while the cameras were rolling.”

Fellow commenter Dave Rubin added in a separate post that he “haven’t seen two girls hate each other so much since Dorothy stole all the men in the Rusty Anchor from Blanche in Season 7 of The Golden Girls.”

“Whoever brought them together hates them both,” one user replied to Rubin.

Conservative author David Harris Jr. suggested that there appears to have been a “rift” within the party following Harris’ overwhelming defeat by President-elect Donald Trump.

The first and second families were at the Virginia Cemetery to watch the president lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to commemorate Veterans Day.

The first lady reportedly greeted Emhoff “enthusiastically,” according to a Daily Mail report, but appeared more stoic when Harris arrived.

During the campaign, the first lady advocated for Harris, talking about how they bonded over the loss of close family members to cancer and other connections.

On Wednesday, the first lady will travel to her home region of Philadelphia to speak at a gala for the Philadelphia250 organization, which is preparing to celebrate America’s 500th anniversary next year.

Fox News Digital has reached out to a representative of the first lady, the White House and Harris’ office for comment.
