An English backpacker who is accused of killing a two-color father in an e-scooter crash when he is drunk has been released in Western Australia.

The 25 -year -old Alicia Kemp from Redditch in Worcestershire is said to have broadcast more than three times above the legal alcohol limit when they collided with Thanh Phan (51) in Perth's city center on May 31.

Mr. Phan died days later after he had suffered bleeding in the brain.

Kemp, a graduate for criminology and psychology, was charged with dangerous driving, which caused death under the influence of alcohol.

It is also accused of dangerous driving, which causes bodily harm under the influence of alcohol. She still has to enter a plea.

Kemp, who was denied the deposit at a hearing in June, appeared on Tuesday at the Perth Magistrates' Court via a video link.

She will stay behind bars until her case returns to court on August 11th to receive legal arguments.

The indictment of dangerous driving causes death has a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

According to the Western Australian law, e-scooter drivers have to wear a helmet, be sober, do not wear passengers and be over 16 years old.

Mr. Phan's family, who described him as a “beloved husband, father of two years, brother and dear friend”, asked for a review of the e-scooter laws.

Since then, the government has announced a parliamentary investigation of the security of e-bikes and e-scooters, 9News reports.
