Volunteers and employees built the wall, which heals on Wednesday morning in the park in the Kenas Road 1147 and unveiled the exhibition on Thursday morning. A procession was preceded by the opening, starting in Valley Forge and made its way through the communities in the county, including an escort in Norristown.

The Sheriff's office of Montgomery County and the Norristown fire brigade took part in dozens of motorcyclists who accompanied the Semi truck along Dekalb Street. Leaders of two Norristown Fire Trucks held an American flag up at the intersection of Dekalb and main roads. The participants watched when the procession extended along the municipal thoroughfare.

“The Norristown fire brigade was proud to honor the victims and to support our Vietnam veterans as the wall that traveled through our community,” said the fire department head of Norristown, Tom O'Donnell, to The Times Herald.

“This event is about memory, education and healing – for veterans and for all of us,” said Carolyn McCreeary, manager of the municipality of Montgomery, before the event.

Additional programs included guided tours, Huey helicopter landing, candlelight warning guards and wreath strips.
