The doctor emphasizes the importance of early detection in the middle of increasing cancer rates

The cancer rates rise and not just in older adults.

The number of breast and intestinal cancer diagnoses has increased steadily since the mid-2000s, and these types of cancer are increasingly diagnosed in a younger age.

Dr. Rhonda Randall tells us why diagnostic and preventive services are critical even for the less than 50 years.

“So it is important to have a relationship with a family doctor so that you can understand your individual risk factors. We know things like your age, your family history, your genetics, these are things that we cannot change. We can change our lifestyle, and these are things that we can do to reduce our risk of avoidable types of cancer,” said Dr. Randall.

Cancer recognition services are powerful tools that we have to fight against cancer – but many adults are still skipping. Nationally, almost 1 out of 3 adults on recommended screenings are not up to date, even if certain cancer rates continue to rise.
