Take to open to parents and grandparents

Some Canadian citizens and constant residents will soon have the opportunity to sponsor their parents or grandparents for a permanent residence.

The Federal Government will send invitations to potential sponsors from July 28, 2025.

Sponsor your parents and grandparents for Canadian immigration

The government will send 17,860 invitations over two weeks to accept 10,000 complete applications for this year.

All invitations are sent to potential sponsors who submitted an interest in the sponsor form in 2020.

Potential sponsors who do not receive invitations can sponsor their relatives via the Super Visa program, which offers a visitor status for up to 10 years.

About the program of the parents and grandparents

The parent and grandparent program (PGP) is the reunification of the family association for a permanent stay.

As part of the PGP, justified Canadian citizens, constant residents and registered Indians can sponsor their parents or grandparents for permanent dormitories.

Since the demand for the program exceeds the available places, the government uses a lottery system to send invitations to interested sponsors.

Sponsors must receive an invitation before they can apply to sponsor their relatives as part of the PGP.

The PGP opened the submission of interest in the sponsor forms in 2020 and has not reopened since then to submit interest in sponsor forms.

All invitations that should apply as part of the PGP have been sent to potential sponsors who submitted interest in the sponsor forms for the inclusion of 2020.

About the supervisum

The Super -Visum offers Canadian citizens and constant residents an option to organize their parents or grandparents in Canada over a longer period of time.

As part of the Super Visa program, a legitimate host can sponsor his relatives to visit them in Canada.

The supervisum can offer a visitor status for up to 10 years.

In contrast, the normal visitor status in Canada is usually issued for up to just six months.

In order to question the supervisum, the applicant must take out qualified health insurance and be permitted for Canada.

The host must promise to support his relatives for the duration of his stay and must meet the minimum income requirements.
