DCI San Antonio 2025: Here is why you should watch

DCI San Antonio 2025: Here is why you should watch

Every season, the DCI San Antonio gives the fans of one of the most entertaining DCI events in summer in the alamodome, since the entire world class corps is together in one place to fight judges and a very enthusiastic Texian crowd.

The importance of the regional has increased even higher this year, since the competition between the corps has intensified across the board.

The corps has already covered thousands of miles and shaken the nerves of the early season, added their shows a functioning end and are ready to reveal the latest version of their productions in the heat of the Lone Star State. Well, somehow. The alamodome is usually cooled all day until the mid -1970s.

Anyway, look at everything live from Flomarching! Make sure you don't miss the events this week while we tour with stops in Denton, Waco and Houston through Texas before all of this goes under the dome on Saturday, July 19th.

DCI San Antonio 2025: Here is why you should watch

The 2025 DCI Southwestern Championship is one of the most competitive events that the DCI summer tour has been organizing for over a decade. Here is the reason.

Potential for the closest top 6 since 2019

By 10:45 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 19, after the BlueCoat left the field and Dan Potter read the scores – we will have no idea where the six top corps are related to each other.

This week we have our first chance to see how the quotas of “West Coast” and “east coast” from Corps collide. But all six will only be at the same event on Saturday.

After the Boston Crusaders start their tour from the west, we have not seen the usual collision in Broken Arrow, which usually promotes San Antonio at the end of the week.

The Crusaders joined the Blue Devils and Santa Clara Vanguard to get through California before they drove to Texas. From July 16, they led the field with a season high of 86.75.

One of the stops on the way was at one of the most famous venues of the summer tour, the Rose Bowl.

The points showed that the Boston Crusaders not only extended their lead, but Santa Clara Vanguard closed the gap behind the Blue Devils from 0.80 at the beginning of the season to just 0.25.

DCI Denton (July 17) will be the first head-to-head performance for the Crusaders Bluecoats, Santa Clara Vanguard and Boston. The 21-time DCI world champion Blue Devils and the incumbent champion Bluecoats will only be assessed by the same body this Friday until DCI Houston (July 18). This will undoubtedly only over gland in the dome 24 hours later in the dome.

Never count the Blue Devils. With six days between shows to clean and refine their performance before the competition in Texxas, their score will probably increase significantly.

Two more Corps, Carolina Crown and Phantom Regiment, also performed next to the contingent on the west coast. They were locked up in a close fight, with only 0.05 they separated at DCI Broken Arrow (July 15). Both will see each other again in DCI Houston. All eyes are directed in the summary because the fans try to decipher the results of the judges.

In the past, the average score between the six top corps in the San Antonio was 4.80 points since 2014. In 2019 it was closest with a gap of 3.7 points. However, if you look at the latest score of each corps from July 15, the gap between the top 6 is only 2.55.

We will be pampered.

The DCI San Antonio winner of the world champion pipeline is open

Since 2011, the Corps, which has won in San Antonio, would have the DCI World Championship in August eight times from twelve. The winner of the San Antonio was only adopted four times during this period: 2019, 2015, 2013 and 2011.

In the past one and a half decades, only once has a corps that has achieved the founder's trophy outside of the two best places in San Antonio – the cadets in 2011.

If this trend applies, a place in the Top-Two could be almost gold this weekend. Unless we are of course a historically entertaining season that probably have in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2019.

Will the winner in San Antonio use this dynamic to drive towards the drum Corps Valhalla? Although reality is more nuanced, the historical data is convincing.

Get your first reading processes now

Similar to watching your favorite sports team, the show develops every corps constantly and improves. Basic skills are a matter of course for professional athletes, and DCI is very similar.

It is the subtle details and how trainers combine the mastery of fundamental data between athletes that create the ebb and the flow of a season.

If you haven't seen most world -class shows at this point, the DCI Southwestern Championship is your most important opportunity to get a “first reading”.

Until the second weekend in August, actors and employees will be challenged to get each last possible point out of their shows. This relentless striving for perfection determines who ultimately deserves another day to perform at the DCI World Championship. San Antonio is not just another stopover; It is a critical benchmark that is experienced for every drum Corps enthusiasts.
