Trump says Coca-Cola will exchange maize syrup for cane sugar in us

President Donald Trump says that Coca-Cola has agreed to use real cane sugar in his drinks sold in the USA.

Coca-Cola uses corn syrup in its American products, but Trump's health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has concerned about the health effects of the ingredient.

“I spoke to Coca-Cola about the use of real cane sugar in cola in the United States, and they agreed to do this,” wrote Trump in a social post. “I would like to thank Coca-Cola with all the authority.”

“This will be a very good step of you – you will see. It's just better.” The BBC contacted Coca-Cola for a comment.

While Coke is usually sweetened by corn syrup, cola in other countries such as Mexico and Great Britain, Coke tends to use cane sugar in other countries.

In April, James Quincey, CEO of Coca-Cola, said investors that “we continue to progress in reducing our drinks”.

Mr. Quincey said that the company “did this by changing recipes and using our global marketing and sales network to strengthen awareness of our constantly growing portfolio and to strengthen interest”.

Kennedy and his Make America Healthy Red Movement have campaigned for American companies to remove ingredients such as maize syrup, seed oils and artificial dyes from their products and connect them with a litany of health problems.

He criticized the amount of sugar Americans who are consumed and is reportedly planning to update the nationwide nutrition guidelines this summer.

Trump is a regular drinker from Diet Cola, which uses the artificial sweetener. He had a button installed in the determined desk of the Oval Office so that the soda can be operated.
