The analyst reveals courageous attitude to Lincoln Rileys USC Trojan Future and Buyout

The head coach of USC Trojans, Lincoln Riley, had an overwhelming term in the Trojaner standards in Los Angeles -but his success story to develop the Heisman winner and lead a team in 2018 to College Football playoff makes him a hard coach that he can go away.

Riley is currently 26-14 with the Trojans and ended in 2024 with a 7-6 record and 4-5 in her debut-Big Ten conference. Many college football analysts believe that the results in 2024 do not prove that he is worth retained, but Rileys Buyout should be taken into account if you think of new candidates to lead the Trojans.

Rileys Buyout is estimated at around 88 million US dollars, which makes it unlikely for USC Athletics to pull the plug to him.

Analyst Joel Klatt has expressed that Rileys' Buyout may be worth it, but that it is too early to make bold decisions.

“If he goes 7-5 again, it will talk. It will talk,” said Klatt in the Joel Klatt Show. “Rileys Buyout would probably be around $ 70 million. But then you have to see how it is worth? My suspicion is no and here is the reason. He has a success story about success. You know that he can do it. He is also at least in the off -season and puts together what No. 1 recruits.

Riley currently has No. 1 of the recruitment class of recruiting 2026 in the country – the best class of Trojans in recent years – and signaled a talented future for the Trojans with Riley at the top.

When Riley arrived on the USC campus for the first time, he had an immediate influence on the 2022 season and closed his first season 11: 3 and 8: 1 in the PAC-12 game. The quarterback from Chicago Bears, Caleb Williams, won the Heisman Trophy and became the eighth overall player of the Trojan to get the prestigious honor.

The following season Williams was number 1 in the NFL design of 2024.

Klatt emphasized that Riley's first year had the bar, which shocked everyone. Although Riley does not meet the expectations of 2022, a new conference and an extended CFP pool are some components of the lack of success in the last season under Riley.

“I understand. I think that you have been disappointed lately. Do not let us be revisionist in our history, because in the first season in which Lincoln Riley was there, you were basically Caleb Williams, who had a leg injury from the college football playoff in the four-team era.” They were disappointed every year. I think the first year was too early. I think even this success surprised Lincoln Riley. “

The problem of Trojans last year was inconsistency with talent and fought with the team chemistry, which cost them important games that prove that USC is a team for playoff caliber that can compete with the best.

Despite the frustration of last season, USC still showed the team's flashes that can be. The Trojans sent Penn State to the extension and lost a score games against Michigan and Minnesota.

Klatt admits that a loss is still a loss, but claims that USC has the talent – they only have to carry out if it counts.

“Last year was a disappointment, for the most part due to all the tight losses. You can't lose so many close games and not be disappointed because they felt that they were sure that they were in many of these games and should have won these games,” said Klatt. “I think of overtime against Penn State … USC had her, she had dead and it wasn't that well. You have a great chance of Minnesota, don't do it. Great chance against Michigan, don't let it do it.

The Trojans enter their second season in the Big Ten after converting their squad and implementing a successful recruitment of seasons. With the printing on Riley, USC has to convert its potential into the results 2025.
