Caitlin Clark Out vs. Liberty in question as the all-star status as a groin injury

Caitlin Clark Out vs. Liberty in question as the all-star status as a groin injury

Caitlin Clark will not play on Wednesday in the Indiana Fever Showdown against the New York Liberty in the Madison Square Garden, the team said. Clark reacted a groin injury to the Connecticut Sun in the victory on Tuesday and questioned its availability for the WNBA all-star events at the weekend.

The reigning WNBA rookie of the year had to go out against the sun in the dying seconds when her team held an 85-77 victory. After the game, Fever coach Stephanie White said that Clark felt “something in her groin area” and was evaluated before the team's last game before the All-Star break.

“I think we only take it one step after the other,” said White about the Indy star. “We will get some food, get on the plane and talk about New York. It will be rated, we will see where we are, and we will surely have another evaluation in the morning and see where we are. But you know, this group has played without you, at least we have experience in experience. We know that we have a difficult opponent in New York.

After a healthy college career and the first season in the W, Clark missed 10 games this season when he dealt with groin and quad injuries.

Clark missed five games at the beginning of the season with quad problems and had returned to the campaign last week after having missed the time for the groin. In 13 games this season, Clark scored an average of 16.5 points and 8.8 assists per game, but has been struggling with her 3-point shot lately.

Clark's status for the all-star celebrations of this weekend remains in the air. Clark is an all-star captain towards Napheesa Collier and will compete on the 3-point competition against Sabrina Ionescu, Sonia Citron, Kelsey Plum and Allisha Gray.

The fever is third in the Eastern Conference and in the WNBA rating with a record of 12 to 10.
