Simone Biles used her Espy Awards speech on Wednesday evening to pay tribute to the victims of the recent floods in Texas.

The 28 -year -old Biles gave the victims of the floods when he received the Espy Prize 2025 for the best championship performance on Wednesday, July 16.

“Before I get involved, I would first like to offer everyone who is affected by the devastating floods in central texas on July 4th,” said Biles at the head of her speech. “Words cannot replace the pain, but our hearts are with you in this tragic time.”

The fall floods in central texas at the beginning of this month were estimated to have 132 people dead, while according to Associated Press in Kerr County, another 160 people are missing.

The US Gymnast won three gold medals and silver last year at the 2024 Summer Olympics 2024 in Paris.

“It was very unexpected, especially in a category of all men,” joked Biles, after receiving the award, and pulled the audience in the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles and applause.

“It is an honor for me to receive this award,” added Biles. “Recognition means more than you know. I would like to thank the people who stood with me on this trip – my teammates, my competitors, my coaches, my family and my fans, who lifted me on every step of the way. I would not be here without everyone.”

Biles also said that she would “share this award proudly with my trailer team”.

“It is really important to have a strong support system that understands your dreams that are ready to appear for you, not only when you win, but also when you have to fight,” said Biles. “My sincere gratitude, appreciation and love for everyone who stood with me on this magical journey, all ups, lows, twists and twists on the way.”

The Espy Awards are broadcast live on ABC.
