A man was arrested on Wednesday in connection with a fatal shootout in the Little Woods district in New Orleans East, according to the police department of New Orleans.

The 38-year-old Joshua Stewart is accused of murdering 34-year-old Armand Williams on July 9th.

Around 4:18 p.m., the police answered a call about a shootout in the 9500 block of the Hayne Boulevard and found Williams wounded. It was later found that the shootout took place in the 8000 block of the Avenue trapier.

Williams was taken to a hospital in which he died, the police said.

The police said Stewart had been identified as a suspect during the investigation, and an arrest warrant was issued on Friday, although they did not say which evidence was led to his arrest.

According to online prison files, Stewart was instructed in the municipalities in Orleans Parish.
