First Warn for storms into Thursday morning


KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A First Warn as widespread rain began pouring at 2 am and is coming down steadily through the region. We expect this through 9 am.

Wind gusts at a Level 1/5, but the severe risk is not overly high. With rain tapering by mid-morning. The afternoon will be MUCH cooler, but a nasty heat wave is looming for next week.

The National Weather Service said rain has been falling all night at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. More than 8 inches of rain have fallen in several communities.

THURSDAY: FIRST WARN – Morning rain and storms, especially early. Trending drier by mid-morning, though a patchy shower is possible up to lunch. Much cooler with highs in the low 80s and northeast winds at 10 mph.

FRIDAY: Highs in the upper 80s with a 30% chance for rain and storms.

THE WEEKEND: Mostly dry and hotter with highs in the low to mid 90s. The heat index will range from 100 to 105.
