Decatur, Ill. (Magic wand) – One person was shot in the Old King's Orchard Community Center in Decatur on Thursday morning on Thursday morning.

Devon Joyner told Wand News, several children worked in a youth work program in the building when they noticed that someone circled the property. Then a person began to shoot the group of OKO.

“An individual was hit by a non -life -threatening wound,” said Joyner. He said that they are “doing well”.

It is not clear how old the children were in the facility. The Decatur police said the victim was 21 and was treated in the hospital.

Joyner said the victim had been with OKO for several years.

“We helped him to complete the high school and he was in the process of receiving his driver's license this week,” said Joyner.

The police from Decatur and other first aiders were called to the building in North Church Street near West Green Street around 11 a.m. on Thursday at around 11 a.m.

The building was surrounded by the crime scene band, and several officers could go into the building and out of the building.

The Decatur police said on Thursday afternoon that they had no arrest, but believe that the victim was targeted. The police said the suspect ran west after the shootout.

The orchard of the Old King's Orchard Community Center or Oko is a non-profit organization that, according to the group's website, offers a safe environment for children and seniors in the Orchard district of the Old King in Decatur.

“I won't give up my community,” said Devon to Wand News when he was asked about violence. “I will not give up my children. We have to understand that this is something that we have to address as a whole, but we will not move this stop from us from our struggle in the right direction.”

A neighbor told the wall news, they heard several pops and then saw someone running out of the building.

Joyner said he was already mentioning security changes in the building.

The Decatur police said everyone with information can call you under 217-424-2711, text DPD33 to 274637 or make an anonymous tip by crime stopper at 217-423-8477.
