Las Vegas (AP)-Cooper Flagg was not satisfied with his professional debut on Thursday evening in the NBA Summer League, but he still pulled some enthusiastic reviews after the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Los Angeles Lakers with 87-85.

“Super fun, it's a super selfless guy,” said team -mate Ryan Nembhard. “Everything he wants to do is to be won. Can guard five positions, achieve the ball really well.”

Flagg ended with 10 points on 5-to-21 shoots, including 0 for 5 from 3-point area. The rookie also had six rebounds, four assists, three steals and the biggest block of the night.

With 1:10 remaining and the Mavericks, which was down after one, Flag blocked the shooting of the Los Angeles DJ Steward, and Nembhard used at the other end with a 3-point to provide Dallas his 87-85 lead.

“Obviously it wasn't his night tonight, but the heavy one he has out there helps other boys to get a good look,” added Nembhard. “He is a great talent and it was fun to play with him so far.”

Josh Broghamer, coach of Mavericks Summer League, said when you consider that the team had only four exercises to get used to each other before he arrived in Las Vegas, he was impressed by the effort in the second half.

“As soon as they played basketball, they saw how this ball moved. Cooper made the right decisions, Ryan made our decisions, Jordan Hall, so these boys all played me together in the second half,” said Broghamer.

Broghamer said that he was particularly impressed by flag's conditioning after seeing how the Lakers picked him up defensively to the full court, caught him from the start and continue to play him physically.
