Grand Rapids, me.-A 15-year-old was charged with the death of My'asia Johnson, a teenager Grand Rapids, who died after a shootout on June 12.

The Grand Rapids police have been investigating the case for about a month and saying that it has now had enough evidence to combine the alleged shooter with the victim.

Fox 17 does not call the suspect because he is charged as a teenager.

“A 15-year-old loss, it's just an absolute tragedy. She had her whole life ahead of her,” said Eric Winstrom, chief of police from Grand Rapids.

My'asia, who described the family as a gentle soul, was shot home by North Avenue.

“This incident took place in the house where young people were present … they went around or played with an illegally obsessed weapon,” said Winstrom.

According to the Grand Rapids police, the suspect was charged with ruthless relief that led to death.

“I hope this is a wake -up call to other people. It is a shame that this family has to suffer so deep for this incident,” said Winstrom.
