The police evacuate the residents as forest fires in Spain

The Spanish civil guard led the evacuation efforts, burning as forest fires in the Toledo region.

Dozens of people were asked to leave their houses in Méntrida and Calypo Fado, since flames threatened residential areas and had devoured large forest swaths.

The authorities estimate that 2,500 hectares (25 m²) are affected.

Strong winds also faned thick clouds of smoke in the direction of the capital Madrid.
