Chowan County Man was convicted of up to 102 years for attacks by the daughter

Edenton, NC-a man from Chowan County, was guilty in July 2023 for several crimes, including legal rape, against his 15-year-old daughter.

Evidence suggests that Marcus James Heil's daughter stayed with him in Edenton on July 14, 2023 to connect with him again. This was only two days after Heil had been released from prison after serving a prison sentence for drug -related offenses.

The court found that Heilige persuaded his daughter to consume alcohol and a Vape pen and to impair them before sexually attacking them. The daughter called her mother, who came to pick up her daughter and inform the law enforcement authorities.

The daughter was subjected to a sexual assault in the ECU Health Chowan Hospital, and the DNA extracted from the DNA was with a DNA sample that was taken from Heil.

After Heilig was found to be guilty on Wednesday, the judge Heil condemned at least 71 years and a maximum of 102 years in prison.

After the conviction, district prosecutor Jeff Cruden published an explanation:

For me, cases like this reaffirm a few things that I found true after persecution of over thirty years. First, evil exists in the world. Second, good people get up in the face of evil to help these injuries and prove that the good triumphs about evil. Thanks to the EDENTON police authority, the doctors, the state crime laboratory and the really remarkable people who work for agencies such as Kids First, a young girl is on the best way to recover from an unspeakable act, and a real predator is on the way to prison for the rest of his life.
