A former police officer in Philadelphia, who shot a driver during a traffic disability, was convicted by a judge on Thursday and probation of probation, which caused convictions by the city's prosecutor's prosecutor and the victim's family.

Judge Glenn Bronson sentenced Mark Dial to 9 1/2 months in prison and immediately granted a dial because he had already been detained for 10 months after his arrest in 2023.

A jury released in May (29) of murder canvas and instead condemned him for voluntary homicide, ruthless threat and a criminal offense in the fatal shootout of 27-year-old Eddie Irizarry.

Brian McMonagle, the lawyer of Dial, said the judge did the right thing for a “committed official” who “risked his life for perfect strangers every day”.

District Prosecutor Larry Krasner said that the judge was “far below” guidelines for the conviction of a judgment that was released. The low end of the standard area of the conviction guidelines for the conviction was 4 1/2 to nine years in prison, he said.

Krasner refused to criticize the judge, but said that he was “deeply disappointed with a judgment that I think that they let people lose confidence in the criminal judiciary”.

Zoraida Garcia, an aunt of Irizarrys, said reporters after the conviction if she had committed the crime: another aunt, Ana Cintron, said: “My nephew's life doesn't matter at all.”

In court, Bronson said that the shootout was not a “classic voluntary homicide case” that the behavior of the dial was “demonstrably uncharacteristic” and that dial was not a threat to the public, reported the Philadelphia Inquirer.

He also said that, after shot Irizarry six times, the dial stormed Irizarry to the hospital.

“I've never seen this happening in a voluntary homicide case,” he said.

The lawyers of Dial insisted that the shootout was justified in 2023.

They say that Dial thought that Irizarry had a weapon when he approached Irizarry's car after the officials had driven the car irregularly and several blocks followed before turning and pending on a one -way street.

The video camera video of the police body of shooting shows that the dial comes out of a police SUV, goes to Irizarry's car and fired its weapon six times up close through the driver rolled up.

The video shows how Irizarry holds a seven -inch knife before it was shot.

Another officer screamed “knife” when they turned to the vehicle, but the lawyers of dial denied these claims and said that the other officer had “weapon!” Screamed that the knife resembled a weapon and acted this voting lawfully and in self -defense.

Dial was released from custody in 2024 after the public prosecutor withdrawn a first degree.
