Weirton couple, who was accused, the death of Burggetstown Teen | to drown news, sports, jobs

Weirton – Two residents of Weirton were charged with the recent drowning of a teenager Burgetttown.

Ashley Marie Shelton, 29, and Joshua Lewi's Lockenbie (35), both 3103 Pennsylvania Ave., were arrested by the Weiton police on Wednesday and were charged with crime

In a law enforcement complaints submitted in the case, and the information provided by the law enforcement authorities, the two six children aged 4 to 13 had a bank along the Ohio River near the Veterans Memorial Bridge on the evening of June 30th.

The chief of police of Weimton, Charlie Kush, said: “Due to the strong rainfall, the water level was high during the day. Tragically, the 13-year-old Reese Hanshaw von Burgetstown after being swept away by the current.”

In the criminal complaint, the police said when they arrived, they found Hanshaw with their face down in the water and floated about 50 meters from the river bank.

They said they tried to revive them and to carry them out cardiopulmonary resuscitation before being brought into an ambulance with a total vehicle of the city's fire brigade.

In the complaint, employees of the WVU Medicine-Weirton Medical Center also tried to revive Hanshaw, but she was declared dead in the hospital.

Kush said: “The investigation showed that there were no flotation devices and that Mr. Lobebie and Ms. Shelton knew that none of the children were strong swimmers.”

According to the complaint, the police told the police that he had no experience in the flow, while Shelton said she didn't know how to swim.

The two are recorded in the regional prison of West Virginia Northern instead of a bond of 150,000 US dollars for each in Brooke County Magistrat Court, where their cases are pending.

Family members described Hanshaw as a talented young person who liked to draw, tinker, created and edited videos and loved animals.

A Gofundme page was set up by her aunt Heather Durbin to help the family with funeral costs.
