Woman shot in front of the North Philadelphia Church: Police

The police are looking for a suspect after a woman was shot in front of a church in Northern Philadelphia early Friday morning.

The investigators say that at least eight shots were fired in the murder, some fatally fatal the woman in the head, face and chest.

What we know:

Officials from the Philadelphia police department were called to the Block 2000 of the Lehigh Avenue shortly before 1 a.m. to receive reports on a shootout.

The police found a woman on the sidewalk in front of the Evangelist Church of the Christ, who suffered from gunfire on the head, face and chest.

Officials hurried to the woman to the Temple University Hospital, where the police said she died.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said that eight loddles were found near the woman's body, which caused the investigators to assume that she was shot up close.

What we don't know:

The investigators are unclear about a motif for the fatal shootout and have not shared a description of a possible suspect.
