The man, who is known as a “fearless Felix”, made history 13 years ago when he was lifted back into the stratosphere in a landing near Roswell, Nm, after he was lifted 24 miles across the earth in the stratosphere in a capsule. He set a record for the fastest free fall, which drove 127,852 feet at 843.6 miles per hour and was the first person to broke the sound barrier without the support of a vehicle.

When he left his capsule and jumped into the air, which was 70 degrees below zero, Baumgartner gave the spectators up a thumb to watch a live stream online. He activated his parachute as he approached the ground.

“When I stood there on the top of the world, you will not think about breaking records, you don't think about gaining scientific data. The only thing you want is to come back alive,” he said, after he had landed safely.

“Sometimes we have to get really high to see how small we are.”

The Altitude record from Baumgartner stood for two years until Google Executive Alan Eustace provided new markings for the highest free fall jump and the greatest free fall distance.

Baumgartner, a former Austrian military parachutist, made numerous jumps of aircraft, skyscrapers and bridges. He also jumped from famous landmarks, including the Christ the Speechemer Statue at the summit of Mount Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

He once flew over the English Channel in a carbon fiber wing after dropping out of an airplane. The Daredevil also appeared as a helicopter pilot in shows all over Europe.

Baumgartner died when he took part in a prose more prose. Paragliders are light, freely flying and foot operating aircraft, which are mainly used for relaxation. The pilot is hung up under a fabric wing.

In a statement on Fox News Digital, a representative of Baumgartner's long -standing sponsor Red Bull said: “We are shocked and overwhelmed by sadness to hear the devastating news about our long -time friend Felix Baumgartner.

“Felix was born 'to fly' and was determined to cross the borders. He was also smart, professional, thoroughly and meticulously and never left anything to chance. He was generous and gave a large part of his time to help and inspire so many people.

“We remember Felix as a nice person who has devoted himself to his family and his friends who we send our warm sympathy. Felix, they will be deeply missed.”

In an interview with Red Bull years ago, Baumgartner addressed his meticulous preparation before the flight.

“We had a very long list of” What if “, in other words, eventualities could happen and how we would deal with them in an emergency,” he said. “The list was getting longer and longer. I was only afraid of things that were not on the list, the things we hadn't thought of. To date, I have missions if the conditions are not correct.”
