Libby's Ryggs Johnston has gone the hometown before the 153rd Open Championship


Libby – Ryggs Johnston grew up in the Cabinet View Golf Club in Libby. There he developed the skills that would bring him a berth in the 153rd Open Championship of this weekend in Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.

In his first year of the professional golf at the DP World Tour, Johnston's victory of the Australian Open won an invitation to Golf's oldest tournament last December.

With his trophies and its goods in the entire clubhouse, Cabinet View Pro Jeff Dooley said that Johnston was the perfect representative of her golf course for small town.

“It is really something special for the club. We took his picture with his victory at the Australian Open and he is a recognizable figure here in Montana, nationwide and on the DP tour,” said Dooley. “It is really a special offer if such a player comes from our club.”

Since the open championship is nearby, those who have scored large goals near Johnston in Northern Ireland.

“Just to be satisfied with the way he plays and and to be competitive,” said Rohrer. “I know that he can be and that would be my goal for him to make cut no. 1. Obviously he wins him.

Johnston will stop at the Open Championship on Thursday when the tournament begins with the first round.
