Fever, sun, Abuzz over packed house in the Boston TD garden

Boston-Zum second in a row, a sold-out audience of 19,156 fans in Boston's legendary TD Garden got off to see a WNBA game. The host Connecticut Sun fell on Tuesday in an 85:77 fight of the game in the last minutes of the game.

“It was an amazing experience,” said Sun -Star Tina Charles. “It was a success even though we didn't get victory.”

Natasha Howard from Indiana added: “To see all banners to see how many athletes who came through here, and as much for this city, this state. [was cool]. I was really surprised how many people came out today. “

The crowd this summer was the third highest number of visitors for a WNBA game, behind two other games with the fever.

Jaylen Brown, Star of Boston Celtics, was present together with other local star athletes, including Lucas Giolito from Boston Red Sox and the women's football legend Kristine Lilly.

The sun, which is about 100 miles in Uncasville, Connecticut, organized the first game of the franchise company last August when they defeated the visiting Los Angeles Sparks.

Sun President Jen Rizzotti said the team was excited about the second year in a row.

“The energy and enthusiasm of the New England market last season was phenomenal, and we are proud to further build this dynamic and combine ourselves with our New England fan base,” said Rizzotti in a statement. “Women's basketball is one of the largest stages and we will further strengthen and show this mission.”

The crowd on Tuesday leaned more pro-fever and pro-Clark this time, but the Sun fans also made their presence known, especially since Connecticut kept the game nearby until Indiana pulled the route down.

“I found it a lot of fun to be honest,” said Sophie Cunningham from Indiana. “There is so much story in this building. I have some heat when I say things about cities, but I like Boston, man. I really like Boston. You have to get a team here.

“I think to only play in the garden, it's exciting. I think it is really cool to see how all these fans come out, regardless of the city we are in. It feels like a home game, but I think we really enjoyed it. We don't take this kind of things for granted.”

Boston was increasingly brought up as a potential place for a WNBA franchise, either as a new expansion team or when the sun was supposed to move. At the beginning of this summer, the team confirmed that the SUN owner group, The Mohegan Tribe, examined all options to strategically invest in the team, including a potential move.

“I find it exciting,” said Charles about the prospect of having a team in Boston. “For me, my career and everything that happened was always in the region of New England. So I will be number 1, regardless of whether I am with the team or not. But I only think that expansion and growth in the WNBA are very amazing. Young girls and boys can dream when I dreamed when I looked New York Liberty.
