Sabrina Ionescu wins the 3-point competition, Natasha Cloud claims competitive competition

Indianapolis (AP) -Sabrina Ionescu won the 3-point competition, and her New York Liberty team colleague Natasha Cloud was the qualification champion at the WNBA all-star on Friday evening.

Ionescu, who won the title with a record performance in 2023, had a strong last round and scored 30 points. It was less than her record effort of 37 two years ago when she made 25 out of 27 shots in the WNBA or in the NBA. The total of 30 ranks agreed with the second highest in the event.

Allisha Gray from Atlanta, who wrote up her own history last year with winning the 3-point shooting and skills competition, was too short during this time. She had 22 points in the 3-point competition.

Ionescus 30 points were the second highest in a WNBA-3 point competition.

Gray last went in the opening round and had to defeat the 22 points of Kelsey Plum to reach the last round. Gray met her last four shots, including the money ball, to bind and advance Ionescu.

Plum from the Los Angeles Sparks wanted to be the first player in WNBA history to win an all-star MVP (2022), Skills Challenge (2023) and 3-point competition.

Lexie Hull, who for the teammate of Indiana Caitlin Clark, who injured her right -wing area on Tuesday evening, was 20 points to reach fourth place. Clark pulled the crowd up from the sidelines before it is Hull.

Washington Rookie Sonia Citron scored 19 points in the opening round.

Cloud had combined the fastest time in the first round of the obstacle paras course, the passport, dribble and shooting. In the final of Seattle from Erica Wheelers, she had to beat 37.5 seconds of 37.5 seconds. Cloud won, even though all three were missed from the corner over the windmill defender. She was able to get through the obstacle course in 36.4 seconds – 1.1 faster than Wheeler.

After the striking of Wheeler, the cloud hugged Ionescu. Then she took off her friend and Liberty teammate Isabelle Harrison and hugged her and kissed her. Harrison had announced Cloud that she had to win so that they could make a deposit in a house.

“You will get the house,” said Cloud after winning.

Cloud received 55,000 US dollars from AFLAC as part of a partnership with the WNBAPA. It also receives 2,575 US dollars from the league for victory, which was part of the collective agreement.

Wheeler started for a year after he was missing the competition in Phoenix due to incorrect software update that caused technological chaos worldwide. Wheeler spent a few years in Indiana and received loud ovations from the fans when she was introduced.

The defending champion Gray, who wore A'ja Wilson shoes made to measure with “monetary sign”, had in trouble after she missed all three passports of the breast, which slowed down her time and spoiled her offer for a repetition.

She ended the course in 39.4 seconds, which was behind the opening time of Cloud and Wheeler. Courtney Williams (42.0) and Skylar Diggins (44.3) have not achieved the last round.
