Beaumont increases the fight against the crime with new Doj Finance

Beaumont ensures DOJ financing in order to reduce violent crime of over 87,000 US dollars and support police efforts.

Beaumont, Texas – The city of Beaumont has received additional funds from the US Ministry of Justice to support its efforts to reduce violent crimes. The members of the city council recently approved an application for a grant of $ 17,000 via the Project Safe Neighborhoods program, which was added to a scholarship granted in 2024.

The funds are addressed to the Beaumont police department to help enforcement and investigation, especially during the high crime times. Mayor Roy West says that the grants already achieve results.

“This is something that benefits here in Beaumont, Texas, the inhabitants of Beaumont, Texas,” said West.

Since 2024, Beaumont DOJ subsidies have received over 87,000 US dollars to reduce violent crimes. Mayor West noticed that the financing supported the representative over time and supported the extended police work in troubled areas.

“If you want to have an increased implementation or an increased investigation in this area, this provides additional funds for this,” he said. “Because, like every department, we have boundaries for how much we can spend.”

Crime Stopers of Southeast Texas also asks the public to be part of the solution by submitting tips. CEO Mike Barfield emphasized the selection of crimes that can be reported.

“There will be everything by someone who has an arrest warrant against attacks, theft, disorder and sometimes as much as murder,” said Barfield. “It really depends on what people see.”

Mayor West said that the city's efforts pay off by 21%with a decline in violent crimes a year compared to the previous year.

“I know that people sometimes hear on social media that crime is increased, but the police department has made considerable efforts and we see the results,” he said.

City guides believe that the additional financial support offers flexibility and resources in order to continue to develop effective strategies to protect the neighborhoods of Beaumont.
