Man who faces hate crimes after he allegedly attacked 2 couples outside of MGM Grand Detroit

What started as a trip to the city center of Detroit for a concert landed in the hospital. Now their friends and love say that they want to answer, especially MGM Grand Detroit.

On July 13, Chelsi Way and her wife Celia Haueter and another LGBTQ+ couple took part in a concert in Detroit and received a servant from MGM Grand.

Around 1 a.m. on July 13th, the couples went back to get their car and while waiting outside, they claim that two men approached them.

“We have never been personally attacked and attacked,” said Way. “We all looked at and we said: 'It's strange.' Then the bigger man put his hand on my brother's shoulder and said: “Hey man, what's going on?”

Way claims that one of the men then called them homophobic dirt.

“As soon as he said that, my brother somehow grabbed me,” said Way. “I am on blood thinner; I have two blood clots in my lungs. He was worried about my security.”

Path said her brother went out for security when the two men allegedly mocked further, and Haueter in front of one of these men, William James Wilson, is supposed to beat Haueter several times.

“I remember that I fell to the ground and tried to get up again. And then my mind is empty,” said Haueter.

After Wayson supposedly attacked Haueter, Wilson began walking along the street. She says she followed him with the police on the phone.

Both couples claim that they asked them for the help of security, but nobody supported them. They say that almost a dozen people developed chaos.

“You have the responsibility to ensure security. We asked for help and nobody came. We felt uncomfortable,” said Way.

David Supal is engaged to Way's brother. He says he cannot believe that the entire situation took less than 15 minutes.

“I threw my body in front of you because I saw the hayacher he threw. I made about 3-4 shots,” he said.

Haueter says she was passed out for a few minutes. She received more than 20 stitches.

“The doctor literally told her in the hospital that her brain had literally separated,” said Way.

The 26 -year -old Wilson from Fort Worth was arrested, and Wane County's public prosecutor said that he was charged because of assault because he was causing the alleged attack by Haueter, Serious Bodily Investment due to the alleged attack by the assault, two cases of bodily harm and battery and four cases of hate crimes with violence or assault serious bodily harm. He received a bond of $ 100,000.

CBS News Detroit turned to MGM Grand for a comment and was asked to refer questions to the Detroit police.

Wilson will be returned to court on August 24th. He has a preliminary exam on August 31.
