5 best new films that can see this weekend on Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu and more (19th to 20th July)

For this season it was a pretty quiet week for new films in the best streaming services. But there are still many options when looking for what to see this weekend.

The lead of the pack is two premium video-on-demand offers: DreamWorks' live action remake from “How to Train Your Dragon” and The Ai Horror became an action heroine “M3gan 2.0”. On Netflix you will find the psychological thriller “Wand to Wand”, a durable slow burn with an end that you will never see. Hulu has “The Amateur”, Rami Malek's split action thriller. And HBO Max has a nightmarish turn for the typical Romcom formula with “I love you forever”.

Dreamworks jumped into the live action remake train with “How to Train Your Dragon”, and it seems to be a resounding success for the studio and pulling over $ 450 million at the box office worldwide. It cannot capture the same charm in live action, but the story will undoubtedly be familiar and lovable for the fans of the original.

Netflix has another exciting new thriller in its hands and it becomes the next hit of the streamer. After office workers Woo-Sung (Kang Ha-Neul) accepted a strong guilt to buy his first apartment in a crowded South Korean city, the thrill of residential property quickly gives way to fear when relentless, inexplicable noises prevent the entire building from being sleeping together.

In his search for answers (and a bit of peace), he joins his neighbor Jin-Ho (SEO Hyun-Woo), while Eun-Hwa (Yeom Hye-Ran), the no-nonsense apartment of the building, endeavors to maintain the arrangement of the increasingly excited residents. And the suffocating summer heat does not help to keep his cool.

When the strange noises deteriorate, fear sneaks up, customs for customs until they start to question every sound and to think twice about how they live so close.

“M3GAN 2.0” could not grasp the same viral success that the first film enjoyed in 2022, but as someone who had it in the cinemas to see him, I encourage them to ignore the haters and check it themselves. It is exactly the thing if you fancy a popcorn film with “Terminator” Vibes.

The first “M3Gan” introduced us to the incredibly lifelike Android (played by Amie Donald and Jenna Davis), a creation by robotic Gemma (Allison Williams) as a high-tech companion for her orphaned niece Cady (Violet McGraw). But when M3gan became consciously and dangerously over -caution, Gemma and Cady had to close (or so they thought).

The sequel takes a trace of bodies two years later after a new Android, Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno). Gemma and Caddy have no choice but to mutrify themselves with an advanced M3gan to prevent their villains' successors from unleashing undecided AI horrors.

Based on Robert Littell's novel “The Amateur”, like a classic espionage thriller: Cia Codebreaker Charlie Heller (Rami Malek) an idyllic life with his wife Sarah (Rachel Brosahnahan) lives until everything breaks when she is killed in a terrorist attack.

In order to take revenge, Charlie takes his secret service training to track down the culprit just to be blocked by the agency for which he works. When the CIA refuses to act, he takes the matter into his own hands and blackmailed himself into a crash course in field operations to secure the green light to hunt the murderers himself.

With the experience with zero field, he is far above his head and a game in a shootout, but his intellect and ingenuity may only give him the upper hand to end the job that the CIA will not do.

“I love you forever” (Max)

“I love you forever” has a pitch that definitely fascinated me. It is a self-proclaimed “subversive” turn about the classic Romcom formula by Girl meets Boy. In its center is Mackenzie (Sofia Black-d'elia), a 25-year-old law student, whose dating life is a blurring of nameless connections and not an adhesion. This changes when she meets Finn (Ray Nicholson), a charming journalist who seems to offer something more essential.

But when the initial spark and cracks begin to show, Mackenzie must also count on Finn's darker side. The red flags are piling up when their relationship shifted from love bombing to control behavior and finally turns into emotional abuse.

When she trusts herself and find out how her dream relationship became a nightmare, she puts her own ideas about love and the stories about which we tell ourselves happily.
