Japanese internet users can now download the entire Netflix in 1 second! – Trak.in

A new internet speed record of 1.02 petabit per second was determined by Japanese researchers, which shook earlier records.

You can download all Netflix content at a second at this speed.

Japan breaks the Internet speed record at 1.02 petabit per second

Researchers of the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) in Japan have made the discovery.

The new record corresponds to approximately 1,020,000,000 Mbit / s because a Petabit corresponds to one million gigabits or a billion megabits.

This new speed is millions of times faster than the average internet speeds in the USA and India, which are around 300 Mbit / s or 64 Mbit / s.

In contrast to ordinary cables, which usually only have one core, the experiment used a special optical fiber with 19 cores.

The fibers are every function as different data transmission channels and enable a significantly higher throughput without enlarging the physical dimensions of the cable.

The fiber used had the same diameter as standard global fiber cables and measures 0.125 mm.

It was not confirmed that a system with 19 loop circles with 86.1 km each was used to transmit the data at a significant distance of 1,808 kilometers.

A bandwid density of 1.86 exabits per second per kilometer was achieved by sending 180 data flows at the same time.

Nicht said: “Our goal was to demonstrate that incredibly fast internet speeds can be achieved using the existing infrastructure.”

Large digital tasks such as downloading the full English Wikipedia with all revisions thousands of times per second could be supported by this new speed.

It also enables immediate streaming of applications with a high bandwidth, including 8K Ultra HD video.

High-performance cloud computing, training massive AI models, global data storage and international cooperation in real time are some possible future use.

By using fibers in standard size, real implementation becomes more feasible, although it is still in the research phase.

Although no publication date has been set, the technology offers a promising insight into the future of internet connectivity.
