Chicago crimes: Mrs. drowned baby in Lake Michigan, says the police

A 1-year-old boy died after being drowned in the neighborhood of South Shore on Friday evening, and a woman is in custody.

According to the Chicago Police Department, the incident occurred in the 7000 block of S. South Shore Drive.

What we know:

The police answered a call at 9:45 p.m. and found a 31-year-old woman in the water on Lake Michigan, said CPD.

The investigators learned that the woman had drowned a 1-year-old boy. It was taken into custody and brought to the Medical Center at the University of Chicago.

The baby's body was recovered by the Marine Unit of the Chicago Fire Department and brought to Comer Children's Hospital, where he was declared dead.

Examine area detectives.

No accusations were announced, so the police did not identify the woman.

The baby had not been identified by the Cook County medical examiner.

The police said the case was classified as a murder.
