“It's from a record high below.”

“It's from a record high below.”

The Seattle Times The columnist Danny Westneat wrote that the crime is below. The shootings have decreased by 29%, the car theft fell by 25%, robberies by 15%and overall violent crimes have dropped by 12%, while the city has had the slightest amount of murders since 2019.

Despite the promising data, Kiro -Host John Curley wanted to pump the brakes when celebrating the optimistic trends.

“I think Seattle has been up to 19 murders since yesterday, and we are a little more than half of the year,” said Curley in “The John Curley Show” on Kiro Newsradio. “Usually murders are highest when it is hotter and we tend to get more murders from June to in mid -September. So we are at 19th.

Curley quoted the average number of 28 murders, as this was the average annual amount from 2013 to 18 to 18 years before Crime 2019 rose almost record height in Seattle.

“We still have people who shoot and kill each other in the city of Seattle,” said Curley. “Yes, we should celebrate the fact that the numbers have come down. Well, why are they below? Here it gets a bit cloudy and cloudy.

Curley referred to data in which the murders in Seattle rose from an average of 28.3 and an annual average of 51.3 between 2013 and 2013 to 2019 to 2024.

“If you say the crime is down, it is down from a record high,” said Curley.

Seattle is up to date, in order to see about 22% less property and violent crimes in 2025, according to the Crime Dashboard of the Seattle Police Department (SPD) compared to the 45,884 crimes that took place in 2024.
