Promotion of financial competence and prevention of youth crime: Epic Youth Ballers Conference

With increasing concerns regarding youth crime in the community, epic young people are growing proactive steps in order to solve the topic through financial competence and strengthening.

On Saturday, July 19, the organization organized its 7th annual ballers conference at the Workforce Development Building of Columbus State Community College. The event is sponsored by the department for the city district of the city of Columbus, Huntington Bank and the Fifth Third Bank.

The conference aims to equip students of middle and upper level 6 to 12 with the necessary tools in order to create prosperity, make well-founded decisions and to shape the positive future.

It is expected that over 200 young people will take part in interactive workshops, real simulations and appealing meetings on financial topics. The topics include earning money as a teenager, budget and savings, investment and credit bases, exploration of career paths and scholarship options.

Sherome Hathaway, Chief Operating Officer from Epic Youth, said they hope to tackle financial inequalities and to prevent young people from being involved in crime. “… I think the premises of financial competence, the decisions we make,” said Sherome. “The habits we have with money start very young … The only thing we learn about money is what our parents do with money. And sometimes we don't even learn that.”

The Ballers Conference is a signature initiative of epic teenagers that should enable young people to live targeted life that is heated by character, leadership and economic mobility. The event focuses on bridging the wealth gap by conveying practical, culturally relevant knowledge of money and combining them with experts, mentors and resources that strengthen long -term success.

The event ran on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Find out more on the epic youth website.
