“It is no secret that we had some violence here,” emphasized Sheriff Waters on Saturday. “We want to make sure that people in this neighborhood know that we are here and that we are here to support everything that is going on in this community.”

The walks serve the chance for Jacksonville's office to build confidence in the community and to support its skills for the crime solution.

“The more we reach ourselves, and the more we answer the result, they answer the problems they bring us, the more, the more trust that we deserve, and the more trust we deserve, and the more we hear from our community,” explained Sheriff Waters.

While the neighborhood's crime walks aim to improve JSO's ability to serve their communities, said AJ Jordan – a leader of the anti -crime community organization MAD DADS – on Saturday that it was still the residents to drive the change that they want to see.

“It is not just the sheriff department. If you know that these young men and young women are out here and do things, you have to make this call because we can contain it before it even happens,” said Jordan. “So I encourage the community to be proactive and not reactive.”

Those who want to share concerns about the crime in their community with the police can also do this at the next event of the Sheriff office of the Sheriff in Jacksonville, which is planned on Tuesday for 6 p.m. at the First Coast Christian School on the Blanding Boulevard.
