Health Trust apologizes after Ed Leak has been remedied

A cleaning up was completed after a water leak influenced the emergency room of the Ulster Hospital (ED) in Dundonald.

The South Eastern Health Trust had previously asked people not to take part in the ED, unless it was a “life -threatening emergency”.

It is said that the leak occurred in the ED's waiting room.

On Saturday evening, the Trust confirmed that the incident had been treated and said that it was “sorry for the inconvenience that the water leak may have caused a pump”.

Previously, the member of the Stormont Assembly, Colin McGrath, from the Social Democratic and Labor Party (SDLP), deserved the public “urgent assurance” after the roof of the “newly built” ED was leaked through.

Mr. McGrath, who is also the spokesman for the opposition in the healthcare system, said: “It is absolutely shocking that the roof of a newly built emergency room – opened less than two years ago – is not so far that the patients have to be rejected.

“This is not a small catch or a small teeth. This is a fundamental failure in a critical piece of health infrastructure,” he added.
