Steeler's training camp preview: 6 players to see

A look at six players to see when the Steelers start training at Saint Vincent College:

Derrick Harmon

Gone are the days when the first round is expected to make it your turn to make a contribution and to see how the veterans get the starting employees. The defensive tackle Derrick Harmon was collected in total to play immediately, and he apparently does these wishes well.

At Minicamp last month, coach Karl Dunbar already projected Harmon as a starter in a line that holds Holdovers Cameron Heyward and Keeanu Benton. Harmon is counted to lend physicality and lend a life into a group that was pushed around against the Ravens in the playoff loss.

Roman Wilson

Wilson's promising rookie season essentially ended a ankle injury during the first padded practice of the training camp before it started. The choice of the third round returned to appear in one game, but he then exposed himself to the rest of his opening season. His contribution consisted of five snapshots.

Now Wilson was a regular participant in training outside the season. For the second time in a row, the Steelers try to find a capable recipient no. 2. Wilson will get a chance in the camp and in the previous season to show that he can be this player.

Will Howard

The Steelers waited until the sixth round to use a quarterback with a draft pick, and added the passers -by who won the national championship with the state of Ohio last year. Howard is considered a development piece and he will not play in the regular season unless Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph have injuries.

Howard is certainly a fan favorite in the camp, similar to Kenny Pickett in 2022. He holds a lot of work in the second half of the pre -season games, while the Steelers measure his progress and understanding of the crime. He also has to show enough to make the veteran Skylar Thompson for No. 3 place in the deep die diagram to Edge.

Payton Wilson

Wilson played 45% of defensive snapshots at Inside Linebacker last season after being recorded in the third round of the design. In his second season, his role is expected to increase in the free agency in view of the departure of the veteran Elandon Robert. Cole Holcomb is back after you have been missing with a leg injury in the past year and a half, but it can be difficult for the Steelers to keep Wilson off the field.

As a beginner, he made four starts and a total of 78 duels. He also returned a fumbling for a touchdown and had a way against the Baltimore Ravens. Its speed makes him an intoxicating area, and he has a knack for being the ball, cheap properties for an inside linacker.

Troy Fautanu

The pick of the first round 2024 played well enough last year on the camp that he was in line to start the season with the right tackle. A knee injury at the start of the season suffered these plans, and his NFL debut had to wait until week 2 in Denver.

Fauutanu brought Broderick Jones out of a starting job that day, but a separate knee injury in practice the following week was harmful to end the season of the rookies.

Fautanu is attacked on the right again for his second season, and he and Jones will give the Steelers one of the least experienced duos in the league at Tackle.

Jonnu Smith

The Steelers added an already deep narrow end group when they acquired Smith from the dolphins in the deal, which also brought the Cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the organization. However, Smith can be asked to do more than at the narrow end.

Smith has had a career season in which he caught 88 passes for 884 yards and eight touchdowns. It can be used at Wide Receiver and in the Backfield, which offers another urgently needed goal for the quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
