South Korea rain fatal

Heavy rain in South Korea has killed at least 17 people in the past few days. The government documents showed on Sunday, while 11 are not taken into account in the intensive rains.

South Korea usually experiences monsoons in July and is usually well prepared. But this week, according to official data, the southern regions of the country were made with some of the hardest hourly rainfall.

In the early Sunday there was also a dangerous flood in the north, with almost 170 millimeters (6.7 inches) rain, which hits Gyeonggi, east of the capital Seoul, Gapyeong County and missed at least two dead and five.

The number of victims rose all day long when the body of the previously reported failure – many in landslides – were recovered.

A woman in the 70s was killed when her house collapsed in a landslide, while a man's body was found near a bridge in the forties after drowning, reported Yonhap News Agency.

The total number of deaths from the five -day deluge is now at least 17 years. According to the Interior Ministry, 11.

Most deaths occurred in the southern county of Sanchong, where almost 800 millimeter rain has been recorded since Wednesday.

With the corpses of those who were missing on Sunday, the number of deaths in the rural county increased with 33,000 to 10, although four have not yet been taken into account.

Scientists say that climate change has done more often and more intensive weather events worldwide.

In 2022, South Korea was rain and flooding in which at least 11 people were killed.

This included three people who were caught in a Seoul cellar apartment who became internationally known due to the Korean film “Parasit” awarded by Oscar.

At the time, the government said that the rainfall has been the hardest since the beginning of the records and blamed climate change for the extreme weather.
