Optional October update for versions 23H2 and 22H2 with features › Dr. new Windows

An optional update is available for Windows 11 versions 22H2 and 23H2 that fixes errors and implements functional changes. The latter are partly adaptations to version 24H2.

The update has the number KB5044380 (OS Builds 22621.4391 and 22631.4391) and is, as usual, optional installation must also be started manually. The changes included will come automatically with the next official Patch Tuesday update in November.

As usual, the new features are divided into two categories. As part of the gradual rollout, this update contains the following changes, which are not immediately visible but will be activated successively:

(automatically translated from the official changelog)

  • [Gamepad-Tastatur] New! This update starts the introduction of a new gamepad keyboard layout for the on-screen keyboard. This allows you to use your Xbox controller to move and tap on the screen. These include the X key for backspace and the Y key for spacebar. For better movement patterns, the keyboard keys are aligned vertically.
  • [Benachrichtigungen] New! You can now stop suggestions to turn off notifications from certain apps. Select and disable the ellipsis (…) in the notification. You can also the settings > system > Notifications go and deactivate it from there. Look for “Notification Suggestions” in the senders list. An entry will only appear in the list after you receive a notification.
  • [Startmenü] New! “All Apps” has a new name of “All”.
  • [Narrator]
    • New! This update adds a new Narrator shortcut. Press Narrator + CTRL+X to copy the last spoken narration to the clipboard. This keyboard shortcut is useful when you want to quickly copy content, such as: B. Codes or numbers to be used.
    • New! The content of an email message is now automatically read in the new Outlook. This corresponds to the behavior in Outlook Classic.

The “normal rollout” includes the option to change the function of the copilot button (if available) in the PC settings under Personalization / Text input and to call another program instead of the copilot. There are also some bug fixes.
