BVB, News: Match winner Vinícius Jr. “still quite” at halftime

The hero of the evening threw himself into a victory pose with his upper body bare. After the game, however, Vinícius Júnior was very modest – he blamed his coach Carlo Ancelotti for the lion’s share of Real Madrid’s outstanding 5:2 (0:2) comeback against Borussia Dortmund.

“We know that at home, with our fans behind us, anything can happen,” said the three-goal scorer. He came into the dressing room “very quietly” at halftime with his famous teammates like Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham. “We listened to our coach and only told ourselves one thing,” he reported: “If we score the first goal, we will come back.” It worked. Spectacular.

The German national player Antonio Rüdiger (60th) provided the impetus with his goal. “We never give up! A magical second half,” he wrote after the game Instagram. Vinícius Júnior (62nd/86th/90th+3) and Lucas Vazquez (83rd) turned the game around and BVB was overrun. Vinícius, the Brazilian left winger, is likely to win the Ballon d’Or on October 28th.

“We have to learn,” said the experienced Ancelotti, on the other hand, as calmly as he was during the break: “From what we are capable of in this second half, with this high intensity, this pace.” He demanded: “This is how we have to start games – and don’t react until the opponent has scored two goals.”
