Searches in Ireland and Spain target organized crime group Hutch – The Irish Times

Several searches took place in Ireland and Spain on Thursday morning against the organized crime group Hutch, which is suspected of being involved in money laundering in several jurisdictions.

Ten searches were carried out in Spain, with gardaí from the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (GNBCI) operating in the region in support of the Guardia Civil.

A search took place at a residential property in Dublin after an international mutual legal assistance request (ILOR) was received from Spanish authorities.

The search in Dublin was also carried out by gardaí attached to the GNBCI. A Civil Guard officer was present and the search was supported by the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) and the Emergency Response Unit (ERU).

The operation is part of an ongoing liaison between the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Guardia Civil in Spain, targeting the Hutch organized crime group, which is based in both Ireland and Spain.

A previous search against the Hutch group was carried out in June 2022 by the Guardia Civil on behalf of GNBCI in Lanzarote.
