Watch: IRON MAIDEN pays tribute to PAUL DI’ANNO during Minnesota concert

British heavy metal legends Iron Maiden paid tribute to their former singer Paul Di’Anno during their concert on Tuesday night (October 22) at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Before starting on the track “The Time Machine”current GIRL Singer Bruce Dickinson turned to the crowd and said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): So this next title is actually called “The Time Machine”. I usually tell a story about it [and] we have some fun. But tonight is – I don’t want to affect the whole thing at all because our friend, our band member Paul Di’Anno deceased, as you probably know. And if you are not aware of this fact, then you are now.”

He continued: “Paul was instrumental in the first two [MAIDEN] Albums, groundbreaking with “Murderer” and the first album. An amazing voice that was dedicated to rock’n’roll until the last minute of his life. So… for those of you who were born and still remember those early albums when I obviously wasn’t in the band and he was, and for those of you who were fans of the stuff he was doing has BATTLE ZONE and his own projects afterwards, and for anyone else who wants to listen to such pieces “Remember tomorrow” And stuff like that, which is absolutely amazing. I ask everyone to take a few seconds to close their eyes in silence and say to themselves internally and mentally: “Whether you believe in God, if you don’t believe in God, it doesn’t really matter; Just believe in what you believe in and just say, “Thank you, boss, for doing what you did.”

Di’Annowhose real name was Paul Andrewsdied at his home in Salisbury.

Born on May 17, 1958 in Chingford, East London, Paul He first gained fame as the lead singer of Iron Maiden between 1978 and 1981. He sang on their groundbreaking debut album “Iron Maiden” and the influential follow-up publication, “Murderer”.

Since I left Iron Maiden, Paul Di’Anno had a long and eventful career as a musician BATTLE ZONE And MURDERER as well as numerous solo releases and guest appearances.

Although he has suffered from serious health problems in recent years that have prevented him from performing in a wheelchair, Paul continued to entertain fans around the world, logging well over 100 shows as of 2023.

His first career retrospective album, “The Book of the Beast”was released in September 2024 and contained highlights of his recordings since his departure Iron Maiden.

The day on which Di’AnnoThe death was announced Iron Maiden released a statement in which the band said: “We are all deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Paul Di’Anno earlier today. Paul‘s post to Iron Maiden was immense and helped us embark on the path we have been on as a band for almost five decades. His groundbreaking presence as a frontman and singer, both on stage and on our first two albums, will be fondly remembered not only by us, but also by fans around the world. We were very grateful to have had the chance to get to know him and spend time with him again a few years ago.

GIRL Bassist and founder Steve Harris added: “It’s just so sad that he’s gone. I only recently had contact with him when we texted each other.” West Ham and their ups and downs. At least he was still performing until recently, being outside whenever he could was something that kept him going. We will all miss him. Rest in peace, buddy.
