Man who shot Shaker Heights gas station employee is sentenced

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) – A 31-year-old East Cleveland man convicted of shooting a BP/711 gas station employee will be sentenced Wednesday.

In September, William McLendon pleaded guilty to the shooting at the gas station in the 20400 block of Chagrin Blvd. guilty of serious bodily harm. in Shaker Heights on February 20 around 6:30 a.m.

Shaker Heights police said the 34-year-old employee was arguing with McLendon, a customer, when McClendon pulled out a gun and shot him.

Police said McLendon fled the area in a light-colored truck after the shooting.

According to Shaker Heights Police Commander John Cole, McLendon surrendered to police that evening.

The employee was taken to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery, police said. His name will not be published.
