Vinicius Junior has changed his mind about who the greatest player of all time is.

Vinicius Junior has changed his mind about who the greatest player of all time is.

The Brazilian is among the favorites to win the Ballon d’Or at a ceremony in Paris on October 28 after a year of leading his side to La Liga and Champions League glory.

In fact, Vinicius has continued his form this season, scoring a sensational hat-trick in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, helping Los Blancos turn around a 2-0 deficit to win 5-2.

While Vinicius is currently widely considered the best player in the world, the player’s stance on the greatest player of all time is less clear.

In 2017, young Vinicius was asked by Flamengo’s social media account to choose between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the best player in the world at the time.

The teenage superstar replied: “Messi or Cristiano? … Messi, Messi.”

At the time, there were rumors that the winger was on Barcelona’s radar, where he would potentially team up with Messi.

The comments remained untouched for years and sparked huge reactions online.

However, in 2023, Vinicius appeared to change his mind on the Messi and Ronaldo debate after posting a photo next to the Portuguese superstar on his social media.

Vinicius shared the image along with the goat emoji, a nod to Ronaldo’s status as the GOAT, an acronym for the greatest of all time.

Ronaldo and Messi have dominated the football world over the past two decades, with the former winning five Ballon d’Or trophies and the latter winning a record eight trophies, including last year’s crown.

However, for the first time since 2003, none of the stars were named to this year’s shortlist.

Manchester City’s Vinicius and Rodri are currently the two favorites to win the award.
