A fire at a Buddhist temple residence in San Francisco leaves 15 people homeless and a firefighter injured

According to the fire department, 15 residents were displaced and one firefighter was injured in a fire at a Buddhist temple complex in San Francisco’s Mission District on Tuesday evening.

The San Francisco Fire Department said around 6 p.m. Tuesday that a two-alarm fire hit the home next to the Hua Zang Si Temple in the 3100 block of 22nd Street. Shortly before 11 p.m., officials said the fire was contained.

As crews extinguished the fire, one firefighter reportedly suffered a minor injury.

According to the fire department, three cats and a dog, among others, were rescued from the fire.

According to the fire department, the American Red Cross arrived to help the displaced residents.
