Nurmagomedov vs. Daniel Santos officially announced UFC 308

Said Nurmagomedov lost his opponent and now has the weekend off.

On Wednesday, UFC announced that Nurmagomedov’s scheduled bantamweight bout against Daniel Santos at UFC 308 this Saturday has been officially canceled. Santos’ withdrawal was first reported by Damon Martin of MMA Fighting.

Officials had been trying to find a replacement opponent for Santos, and several fighters – including flyweight Charles Johnson, who competed last Saturday – weighed in on social media for the opportunity, but it was decided to assign Nurmagomedov to a later date instead book .

The reason for Santos’ withdrawal was not disclosed.

Nurmagomedov (18-3) has yet to compete in 2024 after two failed fights. In addition to Santos’ cancellation, Nurmagomedov withdrew from a fight against Montel Jackson last June.

The 32-year-old has had an impressive UFC career so far, winning seven of his nine fights for the promotion. Most recently at UFC 294, Nurmagomedov scored a quick submission over Muin Gafurov in the first round.
