Two shots, one dead in Duplin County shooting on Shine Road

The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting Saturday evening that left one person dead and another suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting happened on Shine Road. near Faison. Authorities responded to the scene around 8:41 p.m. after receiving multiple calls reporting a shooting. First responders found two people who had been shot.

Russell Hines was found with non-life-threatening injuries and Latonya Tiska Corbett died from her injuries.

Investigators from the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene and immediately began their investigation. This investigation is currently underway with the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office.
