Jameis Winston will start Sunday against the Ravens

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Kevin Stefanski announced that Jameis Winston will start at quarterback on Sunday against the Ravens.

Winston will take the place of Deshaun Watson, who tore his Achilles tendon against the Bengals and is out for the season.

When healthy, Dorian Thompson-Robinson will be the backup quarterback as he recovers from a finger injury sustained in last Sunday’s game. Stefanski said DTR will practice and he wants to see him pitch this week before making a decision on the replacement. Injury to DTR does not require surgery.

The Browns recently signed Bailey Zappe from the Chiefs’ practice squad to the quarterback room.

Offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey will dictate the next plays, Stefanski said that was a decision he made and he has full confidence in Dorsey.

“Every week I look at things we can do better,” Stefanski said. “We need to improve and I felt like this was the right way to do it.”
