The Forest Service continues to reduce the Red Fire emergency closure area; FS Road 60 will reopen around Crescent Lake

CRESCENT, Ore. (KTVZ) – The Deschutes National Forest on Wednesday further reduced the temporary fire protection area in the Crescent Ranger District for the Red Fire near Crescent Lake, which remains at 3,060 acres and is 30% contained.

Access to Forest Service Road 60 around Crescent Lake has reopened, including all recreation residences. The area surrounding the fire area, including Forest Service Road 6010, remains under a temporary emergency closure for public safety and ongoing fire suppression repairs.

Red Fire | Temporary emergency closure in the event of fire

The emergency closure order for the Red Fire has been updated and currently includes the following closed locations and general wooded areas within the closure. The full closure order and closure order map can be found attached.

The closure area includes the burn area within the Diamond Peak Wilderness.

The following trails and trailheads are temporarily closed:

· Whitefish Creek Trail south of Crater Butte Trail

· Crater Butte Trail east of Whitefish Creek to Fawn Lake Trail

The following roads in the area are temporarily closed:

· Forest Road 6010
