Eldon man arrested after cyber tips reveal child abuse material on devices

One person was arrested on Tuesday after cyber tips led officers to discover Child Sex Abuse Materials (CSAM) on a man’s phone.

On June 20, the Miller County Sheriff’s Office received two cyber tips from CSAM that were received and sent via the Kik messaging app.

An investigation of the tips led investigators to a specific IP address outside of Eldon.

According to court documents, a warrant search revealed the Kik account belonged to 20-year-old Brandon Richard Long of Eldon. Deputies discovered the account contained approximately 59 images and 4 videos depicting CSAM.

On Oct. 22, officers executed a search warrant at Long’s home, where he allegedly admitted to sending and receiving messages with other users on the messaging app CSAM.

He was arrested and charged with promoting obscenity and first-degree possession of child pornography.

Long was booked into the Miller County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
