Worth playing | “Astroneer” Glitchwalker DLC Reveals More Details, Gets November Release Date

In this adventure, a player’s most useful tool is their ability to shape their world, changing the terrain and extracting valuable resources from planets, asteroids and moons. Resources can be traded on the open market or crafted into new tools, vehicles, and modules to build everything from massive industrial bases to pop-up tents for overnight expeditions.

Astroneer is a game about exploration and creativity. The worlds in Astroneer are diverse and combine careful artistry and process engineering to create unique and beautiful experiences. However, every world can be reshaped by your tools. The entire extent of the world can be dug, shaped or expanded at will. Every cubic centimeter of every world is accessible to you. Dig huge underground tunnels or build megaliths on the surface. The world is your Play-Doh.

Spacefaring Seattleites System Era Softworks and space cadets Devolver Digital have begun the countdown to the launch of Astroneer’s first-ever paid expansion, Glitchwalkers, releasing on November 13, 2024.

As previously announced, Glitchwalkers continues the legacy of Astroneer’s survival sandbox gameplay and pushes it to new extremes. A new planet – the largest in Astroneer – awaits, complete with new biomes, technology, gameplay features and the game’s first true villain.

But that’s not all: Glitchwalkers will also mark the long-awaited return of Storms in both the expansion and the base game. Glitched Storms have appeared across the solar system, and players must avoid being hacked by these digital storms to have a chance of succeeding in their mission.

Players looking for new challenges will be in for a treat with the introduction of Lyn, a disgruntled member of the ESS Elysium crew who has been busy tinkering with the Astroneer Training Program (ATP) code. Players must work with the Elysium’s maintenance manager, Frank, to stop Lyn and her nefarious plans before she dismantles the ATP from within.

Glitchwalkers transport players to Aeoluz, a massive new planet born in a disrupted solar system, where they are tasked with countering Lyn and breaking through firewalls to restore ATP to normal.

Aeoluz is home to a number of new surface and cave biomes for players to explore, while a new technology tree and modules offer new ways to progress and unlock new and old technologies.

Glitchwalkers will expand the Astroneer universe while retaining all of the crafting, building, and exploration features that existing Astroneer know and love. For players unprepared to take the plunge into the unknown, there will also be a free companion update to the base game that introduces new gameplay, quality of life improvements and bug fixes.

The sudden development of rapid space travel technology enables fast and inexpensive travel to the stars. Exo Dynamics, the dominant conglomerate in this new field, has opened flights for brave Earthlings. Like the Yukon Gold Rush of yore, waves of adventurers join in to venture into new frontiers and risk everything to seek their fortune in the far corners of the galaxy. These are the Astroneers.

As Astroneeryou must find a way to build a life on one of the many harsh new worlds. Blast through the terrain to uncover valuable artifacts and materials to further your quest to become a wealthy baron in the stars. Discover curiosities, raise questions and uncover secrets along the way.

Maybe everything is not as it seems.
