Tioga woman organizes fire relief for affected families

TIOGA, N.D. (KUMV) – A Tioga woman is hosting a live and silent benefit auction to support families hit hardest by the Williams County wildfires.

Kelci Hanson said they would donate the proceeds to five families. This isn’t the first fundraiser she’s organized, but Hanson said she’s already seen a huge outpouring of support.

“I know people come together for things like this in times of need, but it’s shocking to see everyone. Most of the benefits I offer do not receive this type of response. We make a lot of money, but it’s usually just local people donating, to have people from all over: Bismarck, Mandan, Minot, Williston… it’s very nice to see,” Hanson said.

Hanson said they are still accepting donations and items to be auctioned off. The event is scheduled for Nov. 16 at the Tioga Community Center starting at 11 a.m. If you have any questions or would like to donate, please contact Hanson at 701-641-2097.

Families supported included the families of Nicolaas Van Eeden and Ed Coppersmith, who died in the fires; and Daryle Holte, Jeffery Moe and the Karg families, all of whom lost their homes.
